the problem:

Game Dev is fu*king hard

And it's even harder without a big engine.

I ain't gonna sugar coat it.It feels like there's a thousand different things you need to learn before seeing any real progress. Now while it may feel this way. It actually isn't that bad.Hear me out.Over the years I've spent hours upon hours... wasting my time. (for lack of a better way to put it)Yes, with game dev there are many things that could be done at any given moment.BUT... only a small handful of them actually matter. So how do you tell which ones matter and which don't?

Well, I see two options...

#1
Brute force it with trial and error.Spend a lot of time working on things that don't actually get you anywhere, until you've done so much of, what not to do, that you realise what matters.(this is what I did for the last 5 years by the way, perfectly valid path)

#2
Find someone who's further ahead than you on the journey, and learn from their mistakes.Skip over all the dead ends, and have confidence that what you're working on will get you to where you want to go.
(a playable game)

If you think option #2 sounds a lot easier and more enjoyable, that's what this is for.
